This page contains information for students and faculty for using and accessing the library's electronic resources off campus, including authentication, understanding proxied links, and troubleshooting common errors encountered when attempting to access library resources remotely.
When accessing licensed online resources from off-campus, you must verify that you are affiliated with the college. This is accomplished through authentication via EZproxy. Before you are passed through to the resource you wish to access, you will be directed to this screen:
The username and password are the same credentials you use to access the network on campus and your college email. Typically, the username follows the pattern firstname.lastname. Do not include the email suffix "@lacollege.edu." Use the same password you use for logging onto the campus network or accessing your email.
Once you have authenticated, you have access to the same resources and functionalities as you would on campus.
Faculty may choose to embed links to library resources in course materials. These are typically generated within the library database by locating and using a permalink or permanent URL link or button. Proxied links should have a proxy prefix, which will direct users to the EZproxy login page for authentication. This prefix is "https://lacollegelibrary.idm.oclc.org/login?url=". Adding this prefix to freely accessible materials should not impact the link's functionality. However, not having the prefix attached to licensed materials will result in an error message and the inability to access the material.
Should you encounter difficulties accessing library resources from off-campus, please contact the LC IT Department via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or call them at 318-487-7200 during normal business hours: Monday - Thursday` 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Friday 8:00 am - noon. The library staff is unable to make changes to usernames or passwords.
